'TBA' expected to be Jake Peavy

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox set their probable pitchers for the first series of the second half, with one glaring omission.

John Danks will pitch in Friday’s series opener against the Atlanta Braves at U.S. Cellular Field, while Jose Quintana will pitch in Sunday’s series finale. On Saturday, the White Sox have listed "TBA" opposite the Braves’ Paul Maholm (9-8, 3.98 ERA).

That Saturday slot is expected to go to right-hander Jake Peavy, who has been on the disabled list with a non-displaced rib fracture.

Peavy had one rehab start at Double-A Birmingham, giving up one run on five hits over five innings.

The right-hander would be in line to make three starts before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. If he shows he is healthy, he could end up being the White Sox’s best trade bargaining chip as they remain focused on strengthening the farm system following a disappointing first half.

In Friday's game, Danks (2-6, 4.31) will be opposed by the Braves' Tim Hudson (6-7, 4.02). On Sunday, Quintana (4-2, 3.71) will pitch opposite Mike Minor (9-4, 3.02).
