CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Andre Rienzo continued his recent hot streak by throwing a no-hitter for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
The right-hander struck out a career-high 11 in the seven-inning gem against Charlotte in a 1-0 victory during the first game of a doubleheader. Games in minor league doubleheaders are shortened to seven innings.
Over his past 10 starts, Rienzo has given up a combined 12 earned runs, and in four July starts he is 3-0 with a 0.73 ERA. He has given up more than three earned runs only once in the past 10 starts.
The 25-year-old not only pitched in the Futures Game earlier this month, he was a member of Brazil's national team during the World Baseball Classic this spring.
Rienzo entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 7 overall prospect in the White Sox's system.
