How it happened: Omar Infante drove in the only run of the game with an RBI single in the eighth off of reliever Matt Lindstrom. The White Sox were looking for a series victory, with the unlucky Jose Quintana facing Anibal Sanchez. Quintana had a franchise-record and league-leading 16 no-decisions entering play Wednesday. Quintana struck out Nick Castellanos with the bases loaded in the first inning to escape. Both pitchers threw shutout baseball through seven innings.
What it means: Sanchez won his career-high 14th game, lowering his AL-leading ERA to 2.50. Despite throwing seven scoreless innings, Quintana took another no-decision, continuing a season-long trend. The White Sox's record against the Tigers this season fell to 10-6.
