CHICAGO -- Chris Sale will return to the mound Thursday as he makes an injury-rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte at Durham.
Sale hasn’t pitched since April 18 as he recovers from a flexor muscle strain in his left arm. His last outing was a 127-pitch effort against the Boston Red Sox.
The 25-year-old left-hander opened the season with a 3-0 record and a 2.30 ERA over his first four starts.
It is expected to be the first of two injury-rehab starts for Sale, who might be ready to return to the White Sox for the May 23-25 series against the New York Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field.
