The White Sox were dealt a loss in the first meeting between the two Chicago ballclubs during spring training on Friday.
The good: Nestor Molina redeemed himself, throwing two shutout innings after getting rocked earlier in the week. Although neither Adam Dunn nor Gordon Beckham had any hits to show for it , both had solid at-bats against Cubs pitching. Alejandro De Aza led off the Sox's first inning with a nice bunt single that turned into the only run of the day for the South-siders.
The bad: Starter Chris Sale had command issues, allowing three runs in the first two innings. Sale also needs to help the catchers out by using a slide-step to stop the opposition's running game once in a while. Right-hander Nate Jones gave up two runs in one inning of work.
Outside the box: Former Teammates Robin Ventura and Dale Sveum spend 10 minutes before the game talking for the first time since the Winter Meetings in December. The two managers played together briefly during the 1992 season.
