Let's face it: Ventura third most handsome MLB manager

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- At No. 1 when it comes to making on-field decisions for the Chicago White Sox, manager Robin Ventura was actually tied for third when it came to a quirky compilation of the most handsome skippers in baseball.

Yes, the HardballTalk blog at NBCSports.com took the time again this year to ask the age-old question: Can you judge a manager by his cover?

Ventura was tied at third place with Ned Yost of the defending American League champion Kansas City Royals. The Detroit Tigers' Brad Ausmus was at the top of the list, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals' Mike Matheny. In 30th and last place was the Pittsburgh Pirates' Clint Hurdle.

Asked about his ranking Monday, Ventura laughed.

“I care where my wife ranks me; that’s pretty much what I care about,” Ventura said. “If she ranked me like out of the top 10, I would be disappointed. Top five, I’m good with that.”

The 47-year-old Ventura had no issues over being tied with the 60-year-old Yost.

“Good,” Ventura cracked, "he had a good year.”

Last season, Ventura had the No. 3 spot in the rankings all to himself, while Yost was fourth.
