White Sox sign Davis to eat innings at AAA

DETROIT -- The White Sox signed former Cubs pitcher Doug Davis to a minor-league contract.

The left-hander, who was 1-7 with a 6.50 ERA for the Cubs in nine starts before he was released, will join the rotation at Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox are not expecting Davis to make an impact with the major-league club this season. He was primarily signed to eat innings at Charlotte.
