Chicago White Sox deal Eric Surkamp to Los Angeles Dodgers

CHICAGO -- Minor league left-hander Eric Surkamp, who pitched in 35 games with the Chicago White Sox last season, was traded Friday to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The White Sox will receive Double-A right-hander Blake Smith in return.

Surkamp was 2-0 with a 4.81 ERA for the White Sox last season in 24 1/3 innings, all in relief. He was 3-0 with a 2.81 ERA at Triple-A Charlotte this season, making 11 appearances (one start).

Smith, a second-round draft pick in 2009, was 0-3 this season at Double-A Tulsa, but had a 1.62 ERA in 16 relief appearances, with three saves.
