White Sox sign 28 draft picks

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have reached deals with 28 of their selections from last week’s Major League Baseball First-Year Draft, although top pick Carlos Rodon remains unsigned.

Rodon, a left-handed pitcher, is the only one of the team’s first 10 picks who has not been signed. Negotiations with Rodon, the No. 3 overall pick out of North Carolina State will continue.

Second-round pick Spencer Adams, a right-handed high-school pitcher out of Georgia, was spotted at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday. Also signing was third-round pick Jace Fry, a left-handed pitcher out of Oregon State, as well as fourth-round pick Brett Austin, a catcher who was Rodon’s teammate at N.C. State.

The deadline for picks from this year’s draft to sign is July 18.
