With Kiffin gone, Chaney to Bears?

CHICAGO -- Lane Kiffin's sudden departure to USC increases the odds Tennessee offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Jim Chaney joins the Bears coaching staff in some capacity.

The Bears are very familiar with Chaney's work, especially since he served as Purdue's offensive coordinator when Kyle Orton played in West Lafayette. Chaney also mentored Drew Brees in college, and spent 2006-2008 in the NFL coaching the Rams tight ends and offensive line.

Although the Bears keep in contact with Chaney, it's unknown whether an official interview has been scheduled.
