Second-period wrap: Canucks 1, Hawks 0

The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Vancouver Canucks, 1-0, after the second period at the United Center on Friday.

The Canucks broke through midway through the period when Tanner Glass poked in a puck near the crease after the Hawks were caught scrambling a bit in their own zone. John Scott could not continue a breakout up the ice and the Hawks had to move back into their end to play defense. They never did fully recover the puck before Glass was able to score.

The Hawks had a glorious chance earlier in the period when a 2-on-none break developed just after a Hawks’ penalty expired. Patrick Sharp went in on Roberto Luongo but wasn’t able to convert. Luongo has played a solid first 40 minutes.

The Hawks have 22 shots on net to the Canucks 13.
