Second-period wrap: Hawks 4, Avs 4

DENVER -- The Chicago Blackhawks and the Colorado Avalanche are tied 4-4 after the second period at the Pepsi Center on Monday.

Marty Turco’s return to the net lasted all of one period and 48 seconds as he was pulled after giving up four goals on 10 shots. The final goal came after Brent Seabrook turned the puck over as he was exiting the zone early in the second period. After an initial save by Turco, Daniel Winnik poked in a rebound as the puck lay free under the Hawks’ goalie. With a nod of the head from Joel Quenneville, Corey Crawford took over in net.

The Hawks gave up a goal in the opening minute of the second period, but tied the game in the closing minute. Jeremy Morin scored the second goal of his career from a bad angle as the puck trickled through Craig Anderson for a soft goal.

Crawford made the final 10 saves in the period, including a stellar one by flashing his glove to stop Kevin Porter from in between the circles.

The game was tied 3-3 after the first period as both teams played sloppy in their own end.
