1st-period wrap: Hawks 1, Predators 1

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators are tied 1-1 after the first period at the United Center on Monday night.

The Hawks trailed for most of the period after Corey Crawford failed to control a dump-in behind his net. By the time he recovered, David Legwand had found Patrick Hornquist in front for an easy tap-in. That was 26 seconds into the contest.

The Hawks responded about 19 minutes later when Patrick Kane scored from the slot after he, Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa kept a play alive in the offensive zone. The latter two had assists on the play.

The Hawks have been struggling on the power play all season and were given several chances to tie the game, but once again came up short. They had three straight power plays early in the period, including a few seconds of 5-on-3 time, but failed to convert.

Through 10 games and one period this season the Hawks are 4 for 41 with the man advantage.
