1st-period wrap: Blackhawks 0, Lightning 0

TAMPA -- The Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning were scoreless after the first period at the St. Pete Times Forum on Friday.

The opening 20 minutes featured a quick pace. The best chance came off the stick of Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos, who got a step on the Hawks defense, but Brent Seabrook made it back in time to disrupt the play and Ray Emery made the stop.

Viktor Stalberg had multiple chances for the Hawks, registering four shots on goal while also missing the net four times. Near the end of the period he was set up with a pass in front of Lightning goalie Dwayne Roloson, but he couldn’t finish.

Jonathan Toews took a puck to the face late in the period and didn’t take a shift in the final four minutes, but the injury didn’t look serious.
