First period: Coyotes 1, Hawks 0

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks trail the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 after the first period at the United Center.

The only goal of the period came late when Daymond Langkow snuck one by Corey Crawford after a nice passing play by the Coyotes.

The teams exchanged early momentum shifts before things settled down in the latter half of the period. Jonathan Toews and Viktor Stalberg nearly connected twice during one shift and then late in the period Stalberg used his speed to create another chance.

The Coyotes best opportunities before their goal came after Nick Leddy carried the puck into the offensive zone but Marian Hossa quickly gave it away for an odd man rush the other way. The Hawks were caught scrambling and Corey Crawford made a couple of good saves during the sequence.
