1st-period wrap: Predators 2, Hawks 0

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Nashville Predators 2-0 after the first period at the United Center on Tuesday.

The pace to the game favored the home team, but two Hawks turnovers behind their net led to two Predators scores. First, Sean O'Donnell gave one away and the Hawks’ fourth line couldn’t recover to clear it, allowing a Craig Smith goal.

Later, Nick Leddy was bothered into a turnover by Patrick Hornqvist and Mike Fisher pounced on the puck.

The Hawks had a few decent chances, but Pekka Rinne stopped all 10 shots he faced. Nashville had 10 shots on goal as well.
