Hawks trade Scott to Rangers

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman John Scott to the New York Rangers for a fifth-round pick in the 2012 draft.

Scott, 29, has one assist in 29 games this year. He has four fighting majors as well. He’s on the last year of a two-year deal.

His trade clears a roster spot for newly acquired defenseman Johnny Oduya, who was picked up from Winnipeg earlier in the day.
