2nd-period wrap: Hawks 4, Capitals 2

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks led the Washington Capitals 4-2 after two periods at the United Center on Sunday.

Each team scored twice in the middle 20 minutes. The Capitals got on the board with a Mike Knuble goal after Niklas Hjalmarsson failed to clear a puck, which Keith Aucoin knocked down and stole.

But the Hawks got that one back when Patrick Kane scored after a feed from Andrew Brunette near the slot. Then Andrew Shaw tallied his second of the game when he won a board battle behind the Washington net and came out front to score.

But then Alexander Ovechkin undressed Duncan Keith as he came at him one-on-one for his 30th goal of the year.

Shaw and Viktor Stalberg had goals back in the first period.

The Hawks have not been called for a penalty through two periods.
