“No change,” Quenneville said of Crawford following a team skate with the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Program at Soldier Field on Saturday morning, “He’s not playing [Sunday].”
Quenneville said Ray Emery will start against the Los Angeles Kings at the United Center on Sunday afternoon. Emery made 27 saves in a 4-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Friday. He improved to 4-0-0 with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
“It’s nice to play consistently as a goalie,” Emery said. “You want to play as often as you can. You don’t want it to happen when another guy is hurting. But I’m excited to play.”
Quenneville said Friday that Crawford is day-to-day, and he was unsure if Crawford sustained the injury when he collided with Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan during Tuesday’s game or during Thursday’s practice. Crawford did fully participate in Thursday’s practice. Henrik Karlsson was recalled from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Friday.
Crawford is 7-0-3 with a 1.65 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage this season.
The Blackhawks are 11-0-3 with an NHL-leading 25 points on the year. They have earned at least one point in every game this season.
