Hawks' strong starts bodes well for playoffs

The Chicago Blackhawks will try to tie the NHL record for most games to start a season with at least one point on Tuesday when they host the Vancouver Canucks, and if history is any indication, Hawks fans should start thinking in terms of a long playoff run.

Of the five teams that started the season with at least a point in their first 13 games, only the 1994-95 Pittsburgh Penguins failed to win the Stanley Cup. They lost in the conference semifinal round.

The 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks hold the record at 16, and they went to win the Cup that year.

The Blackhawks were 9-5-2 after 16 games in the 2009-10 season, which ended with their first Stanley Cup title since 1961.
