Gibson thinks he'll play Friday

PHOENIX -- Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson missed Wednesday's game against the Phoenix Suns with a right ankle injury, but he said he thinks he'll take the court for Friday's contest in Denver.

Bulls team physician Dr. Brian Cole flew to Phoenix on Wednesday to examine Gibson's foot.

"He said the positive thing is [there are] no tears, no ligament damage," Gibson said. "He said it's probably a bruise or something deep in the tissue. Just took a day off. They just told me to relax and get ready for the next one."

So will Gibson play Friday?

"Yeah. Knowing me I'm going to go out there," he said.

Wednesday's game marked the first time in his two-year career Gibson has missed a game due to an injury. He has averaged 12.4 points and 7.7 rebounds while starting 12 games this season.
