McCamey up for Cousy Award

Illinois senior point guard Demetri McCamey was named one of 10 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award on Monday.

The other finalists are Cleveland State's Norris Cole, Villanova's Corey Fisher, BYU's Jimmer Fredette, San Diego State's DJ Gay, Kentucky's Brandon Knight, St. Mary's Mickey McConnell, Duke's Nolan Smith, Washington's Isaiah Thomas and Connecticut's Kemba Walker.

McCamey is averaging 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals this season. He's also shooting .483 from 3-point range.

“This final list of ten players represents the best of the best in college basketball at the point

guard position," president and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame John L. Doleva said in a statement. "We look forward to recognizing the nation's top college basketball point guard and wish all the

candidates best of luck."

The finalists will be narrowed down to five on March 10, and the winner will be named on April 4.
