Poll: Should the Bengals draft a QB?

It was easily my most-asked question this season.

Should the Cincinnati Bengals draft a quarterback?

At first, I laughed off the inquiries, stunned quite so many people had fallen off the Andy Dalton bandwagon before he even neared the halfway point of his third season as a professional player.

By the time October rolled around and Dalton posted a 4-1 record for the month, throwing for more than 300 yards in four of those games and totaling 11 touchdowns in all five, I simply started ignoring the draft question. Seriously? Really? Why? "Good Andy" had shown up and still there were Bengals fans who weren't sold?

Then, right on cue, "Bad Andy" appeared.

The lone loss from the 31 days that earned Dalton his first AFC Offensive Player of the Month honors came in a game that didn't count toward the award. The Bengals and Dolphins opened Week 9 in a Thursday night contest on Halloween that saw Miami win in overtime, 22-20. The game-winning play was a sack of Dalton into the end zone for a safety. Along with his three-interception effort earlier in the game, that play punctuated a horrendous South Florida trip to close the month. He didn't look any better in another overtime loss at Baltimore a week later, when he threw three more interceptions.

That was when I started hearing your concerns. So, in order to get a more representative picture of those concerns (i.e., if it's a vocal few or a vocal many), let's put the question back on you. Do you think the Bengals should draft a quarterback?

The plan on the Bengals blog for the foreseeable future is to pose two poll questions to you each week, and to share my own thoughts on the questions the day after. So you'll see a follow-up post analyzing the results of this poll at some point Friday. We'll ask the questions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I'll post the results and my thoughts on Wednesdays and Fridays.

So after Dalton led the Bengals to an 11-5 regular-season record, an AFC North championship and a third-straight first-round playoff exit, do you think Cincinnati should draft a quarterback in May? The polls are now open.
