ESPN announced Monday that McElroy will be joining the company as a college football analyst for the SEC Network which launches August 14. Before spending two seasons with the New York Jets and one with the Bengals, McElroy played his college ball at Alabama. He was the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback during the 2009 national championship run.
McElroy retired from the NFL on Friday after being waived by the Bengals. He spent the 2013 season on Cincinnati's practice squad after getting cut by the Jets at the end of preseason camp.
"I am thrilled to be joining the ESPN family. College football has always been one of my greatest passions, and I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to take part in the launch of the SEC Network," McElroy said.
