A.J. Green among NFL's top 40 in sales

CINCINNATI -- Have you bought any officially licensed NFL gear lately?

If so, chances are you're among an apparently growing contingent of fans who have bought items that either bear Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green's name or likeness.

According to a report published Monday by the NFL Players Association, Green climbed two spots in the NFL Players Inc. top 50 player sales list. He went from ranking 41st in licensed product sales at the close of the 2012 season's fiscal year, to 39th at the end of the 2013 fiscal year.

Like last year, he was the only Bengals player ranked in the top 50.

The list is released quarterly by the NFLPI, the NFLPA's marketing and licensing group. It's based on total overall sales of licensed products sold both online and in traditional retail outlets. The tabulation of those products is reported by more than 70 licensees including Nike, Fathead and Bleacher Creatures.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson ranked first on the list, climbing 18 spots. Two other Seahawks, running back Marshawn Lynch (No. 7) and cornerback Richard Sherman (No. 12), were on the list.

Green was one of 11 receivers to make the list, ranking eighth among them. Detroit's Calvin Johnson was the highest-ranking receiver, coming in at 20th.
