Browns making play for Brian Hartline -- at right price

The Cleveland Browns are still in play for former Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline but I'm hearing they could be turned away by his current asking price. The signing has been classified to me as "50/50."

Hartline is entertaining several suitors since the Dolphins cut him last week, including Houston, Kansas City and possibly a Miami reunion.

Hartline notched back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2012-13 before his numbers dipped to 39 catches for 474 yards a year ago, making his scheduled $5.9 million salary hard for Miami to justify.

Hartline, a former Ohio State star and Canton native, would be considered a starting receiver and a good complementary option to a top draft pick. The Browns need help stretching the field on the outside. Hartline isn't a blazer but has adequate speed.
