UPDATE: One of top players yet to sign among this year's class, ESPN 150 defensive tackle Toby Johnson (Hutchinson, Kan./Hutchinson Community College), will announce his decision on twitter at 2 p.m. today. Only two teams remain in the race to acquire Johnson's signature. Georgia isn't one of them.
"Johnson confirmed to the (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) on Monday that he hasn’t talked to the Bulldogs 'in a while' -- which adds to the speculation that UGA is no longer actively recruiting Johnson," Michael Carvell reported.
The decision will come down to Auburn and Mississippi State according to Al.com.
Auburn may have the edge in this particular SEC recruiting battle.
"Auburn's chances are fairly good," Justin Hokanson of Rivals.com tweeted.
Johnson's decision is one between family and friends. Three of Johnson's former teammates now play for Auburn, while his family resides in Mississippi.
Georgia has been the favorite to land four-star defensive tackle Toby Johnson throughout the recruiting process. Another SEC program may have the edge if Johnson's visit goes well this weekend.
Johnson is set to visit Mississippi State this weekend. His mother is a native of Mississippi.
"It kind of means something that my mama lives over there, but she wants me to make the best decision for me," Johnson told Steve Robertson of Scout.com. "When I go to Mississippi State this weekend, I want to see how I get along with all of the players and I want to meet all of the coaches.
"I want to see if I feel at home there. I have felt at home on my other visits, so I want to see if I have that same feeling when I go to Mississippi State."
Johnson said he'll make his decision after this visit -- another point in Mississippi State's favor. His official announcement will come Feb. 19. Johnson will choose between Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri and Oklahoma.
