MWC to make network television debut

CBS will carry the BYU-San Diego State game on Feb. 26 live from San Diego, marking the first time in Mountain West Conference history that one of the league's men's basketball teams will have a regular season game aired on network television.

The game could very well have postseason implications, as BYU star Jimmer Fredette has already identified San Diego State as a team to beat in the conference. Expect the crowd at Viejas Arena to put on a good show for the cameras even at 11 a.m. on a Saturday.

MWC commissioner Craig Thompson mentioned the television possibility at football media day last week. It's a nice bit of exposure since the conference is used to airing games on channels like The MountainWest Sports Network and CBS College Sports.

CBS got a taste of what an MWC star looks like when Fredette became one of the NCAA tournament's darlings by scoring 37 points in a double-overtime, first-round win against Florida.
