Report: Jeron Lewis died of natural causes

The county coroner has preliminarily determined that Southern Indiana basketball player Jeron Lewis died last night of natural causes and that Lewis "had some heart problems," the Evansville Courier & Press reports.

The coroner found no sign of head trauma from the fall Lewis, 21, had on the court in a game against Kentucky Wesleyan, according to the report, adding that more tests would be performed.

Southern Indiana, which has postponed its men's and women's basketball games on Saturday, is scheduled to hold a press conference later this afternoon.

The 6-foot-8, 260-pound Lewis was described by the school as a "gentle giant," blossoming at Southern Indiana after originally signing a national letter of intent out of junior college to play at Wright State.
