Montana State has a sweet plane ride

Montana State gave up a second-half lead and lost on the road to Seattle by a bucket on Monday.

The silver lining? The Bobcats flew back home the following day in style, given something of a hero's welcome when they landed on a Horizon plane that was painted in their school colors.

KXLF-TV has video of the school mascot getting on the tarmac to help guide the so-called Cat plane back to snowy Bozeman, with the mascot's likeness in logo form painted on the tail.

According to NBC Montana, the plane's unveiling drew a crowd.

MSU cheerleaders, Champ the mascot, President Waded Cruzado and alumni and guests were all on hand to welcome the inaugural flight.

MSU school calls the plane one of its biggest promotional opportunities to date.

Horizon began painting university-themed aircraft back in 2007, with Oregon and Washington public universities. Now, MSU will be thrown into the mix.

Cruzado pumped up the crowd, and said flights will spread the image of MSU across the country.
