Oregon is expected to unveil a new jersey design when it begins playing in Matthew Knight Arena next month, but on Saturday at McArthur Court, the Ducks will wear throwback jerseys resembling the ones worn by the 1939 national championship team.
The timing of the nod to history coincides with Division III Willamette being invited to play Oregon that night. The two schools faced in Oregon's first game at Mac Court in 1927, with the Ducks winning 38-10.
Turning back the clock still means this particular uniform will include the customary Nike swoosh and Pac-10 logo, but once again, Oregon is showing how it can push the envelope when it comes to the design element.
Maybe once the Ducks begin playing on that crazy floor design at Matthew Knight Arena honoring the "Tall Firs" national championship team, they can wear the throwbacks again.
