Half: Miami 35, Duke 32

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Well, this is interesting. Halftime thoughts from Miami 35, Duke 32.

  • Mike Krzyzewski was hit with a technical foul after a series of whistles went the Hurricanes' way. K responded by taking off his sport coat, riling up the Duke faithful. It failed to rile up the Duke players, though, who watched gritty Miami score the final 10 points of the half to take a shocking three-point lead into the locker room.

  • All things considered, it was refreshing to see the Blue Devils on the receiving end of a tough whistle. Just to know it can happen.

  • The Hurricanes were again led by freshmen: point guard Durand Scott (eight points, two assists) and center Reggie Johnson (10 points, five rebounds).

  • Duke led by as many as 12 points and appeared on the verge of running Miami out of Greensboro Coliseum, but the Hurricanes regrouped and outscored the Devils 17-2 to take the halftime lead. The go-ahead basket came on a deep three-pointer by Malcolm Grant.

  • Duke star Jon Scheyer has not shot well in this tournament. He was 5-18 Friday and is 1-4 today.

  • Twenty minutes to go for the Hurricanes to sustain their miraculous run -- and if this somehow ends up being a Miami-North Carolina State tourney final, another bubble will burst out there in at-large land.
