UCLA, Arizona gain depth for Pac-10 play

UCLA forward James Keefe could return from a dislocated left shoulder in time for the Bruins' Pac-10 opener on Thursday against Arizona State.

Keefe is expected to miss his third consecutive game when UCLA hosts Delaware State this afternoon, but has been participating in practice. The senior started seven of the nine games he played and would provide a boost for the Bruin frontcourt.

"If things continue to progress, he potentially might be able to play some minutes for us," Bruins coach Ben Howland said.

Arizona also has its players ready for tough tests against BYU Monday at home and at USC on Thursday to open conference play.

Forward Jamelle Horne, who averages 11.2 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game, returned to action last week against NC State. The junior only missed one game due to a right midfoot sprain and did not start the game, but Wildcats coach Sean Miller had been concerned about Horne being out until February.

Miller also saw freshman Kevin Parrom, the recruit he brought over from Xavier, make his official college debut against NC State after missing more than five weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot.
