SALT LAKE CITY -- For the first 12 minutes of the first half of Thursday night's West Regional semifinal, Kansas State looked poised to run Xavier out of the gym.
The winner advances to play No. 5-seeded Butler in Saturday's West Regional finals.
Kansas State came out firing and used a 15-0 run to take a 19-4 lead on Wally Judge's tip-in with 11:58 to play. Xavier missed nine of its first 11 shots and seemed defenseless on the other end of the court. But after the Musketeers started denying Pullen the basketball, the Wildcats missed 15 of their last 21 shots in the half.
Pullen scored 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting, and forward Curtis Kelly had six points and three rebounds. Kansas State, which led the country in foul shots attempted this season, went only 1-for-2 from the foul line in the first half.
