After rushing for nearly 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns for Orlando (Fla.) East River in 2011, freshman Jacques Patrick shouldn't be surprised to have early interest.
Florida and FSU extended verbal offers to the 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete who has since transferred to Orlando's Timber Creek HS.
"It was a little shocking but it's exciting to have the big in-state programs showing interest this early," Patrick said. "I like both schools and a bunch of other programs, so there's no rush for a decision or anything like that."
Patrick has visited Florida and FSU this spring.
"I liked both programs and the coaches to be honest," he said. "The facilities were real nice. They were a little different but real nice."
Patrick said he grew up supporting all of the Florida programs.
"I am just working on getting better for my sophomore season and fitting in at my new program," he added. "Not really thinking about recruiting too much."
