DADE CITY, Fla. -- Through the next few weeks GatorNation will have a series of Q&As with Florida's incoming freshmen. Next up is Dade City (Fla.) Pasco walk-on quarterback Jacob Guy who will enroll in June at Florida for Summer B.
GN: What number will you wear next season?
Guy: I haven't talked to Coach about it, but I'd like to wear No. 15. I wore it my last two years of high school. One, because of my brother, but two, because of Tim Tebow. He's the perfect player to be just like, so if I'm lucky enough to be able to wear his number at Florida it would be very special.
GN: What scholarship offers did you have coming out of high school, and why did you decide to walk on at Florida?
Guy: I had Western Michigan and Tulane. It was the best option. I've always been a Gator fan, and I plan to be that way the rest of my life. It seems like a good situation. Coach [Will] Muschamp keeps bringing in great recruiting classes, so hopefully each team gets better and better. I just hope I can go up there and find a way to contribute. If that's a backup role early, then that's fine with me. But I'm just like every other kid, I want to play and hopefully I'll be able to earn that.
GN: What kind of workout or training program are you doing to prepare?
Guy: I've just been working out by myself and running a little bit. I just talked to Coach [Brian] White and he emailed me the workout for me to start doing for them. I'm going to start that either Monday or the day after that.
GN: What are you looking forward to the most when you get to Florida?
Guy: Probably running out of the tunnel in front of 90,000 people. I've been going to games since I was 3 years old. I got goose bumps every game. I'm sure it will be worse when I run out of the tunnel.
GN: What are your expectations as a freshman at Florida?
Guy: I'd love to play, but I'm a realist. I'd have to go up there and light the world up, especially as a walk-on. They have three quarterbacks. Jeff [Driskel] and Jacoby [Brissett] are great players, and they proved that in high school. They are both fighting for the starting spot, and whoever wins it I'm hoping they take us to the national championship. But if there is anyway possible for me to start then that's what I would plan to do.
GN: Tell Florida fans something about you that most people don't know.
Guy: My favorite TV show was "Two and a Half Men" until Charlie Sheen got off of it. I know why they got rid of him, but I love his comedies, his movies and everything he does. I'm looking forward to watching his new one. I'm also a licensed scuba-diver. We were able to go one time, but we haven't been able to do it again with football, but I want to go dive the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I know there are a lot of sharks, but everyone says they don't attack you unless you are bleeding or something. That would be pretty cool if we could do that.
