Max Redfield reveals final trio

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The verdict is in for Max Redfield. We’ll learn his decision on Friday on ESPN's 5 p.m. ET telecast of the Under Armour All-America Game.

Redfield, a four-star safety from Mission Viejo, Calif., said Sunday he’s comfortable with his choice. The finalists include USC, to which he was a longtime commitment before reneging in October, Notre Dame and a dark horse -- Ohio State.

Rated 36th in the ESPN 150 and No. 4 at his position, Redfield said it was “crucial” to reconsider his initial choice.

“It’s a huge life decision,” Redfield said. “To open it back it up, it was the only thing that was fair to me and fair to the schools I considered. I feel like I committed way too early.”

Redfield described his October official visit to Notre Dame as “wonderful.”

“It’s unlike anything I’ve experienced before,” he said.

Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly and USC’s Lane Kiffin both made in-home visits. After Redfield’s official visit to USC in early December, the Trojans got the final word, sending a pack of coaches two weeks ago to his home.

As for Ohio State, don’t count it out, Redfield said.

“I’ve been talking to their coaches a lot.”
