Rob Ryan, the twin brother of New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, is at Valley Ranch today, most likely to finalize a deal to become the Cowboys' defensive coordinator.
Ryan interviewed last week with front office officials and Cowboys coach Jason Garrett about the job. Adam Schefter reported over the weekend that a deal is in place for Ryan to join Garrett's staff, but no announcement regarding his hiring has yet taken place. ESPNDallas confirmed the hiring.
Now it seems Ryan might be ready to work for a defense that gave up the second-most points in the NFL last season and has numerous secondary and pass rush issues.
Who Ryan brings to his staff is unknown.
Linebackers coach Reggie Herring interviewed with the Houston Texans on Tuesday. Defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni left to become the head coach at UConn.
There is an expectations Ryan will bring in some coaches he's worked with either with Cleveland or Oakland.
