Welcome to Arrowhead Stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Welcome to Arrowhead Stadium, where the Dallas Cowboys look to get to 2-0 for the first time since the 2008 season with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs.

How healthy is the QB: Tony Romo did not miss a practice during the week and said he anticipated any soreness from a shot to the ribs he took in the opener against the New York Giants to not be an issue by kickoff.

In his first three games after suffering a punctured lung and cracked rib in the second week of the 2011 season at San Francisco, Romo had four touchdown passes and five interceptions, including a three-pick game vs. Detroit.

The pass protection will have to be solid with the Chiefs coming off a six-sack performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the opener.

New colors, same coach: Andy Reid posted a 17-12 record against the Cowboys from 1999-2012 with the Philadelphia Eagles, including the playoffs, but the Cowboys won six of the final nine meetings.

Reid has gone back to calling plays after allowing Marty Morninwheg to do it in Philadelphia, but he has a new-look defense with coordinator Bob Sutton running a 3-4 scheme.

“There are some familiar things there is no question about that,” coach Jason Garrett said. “When you look at them on offense, they’ve been running the same kind of system for a long time there. They do a great job tailoring their systems to the players they have, though.”

Ready for Alex Smith: The last time the Cowboys played against Smith, he tore them up in the first half with 119 passing yards on 12-of-16 passing with a touchdown on Sept. 8, 2011. The second half was not as good with Smith getting sacked four times (six for the game) and Dallas winning 27-24 in overtime.

“He can make a lot of plays not only passing the ball, but running,” linebacker Sean Lee said. “He’s just a good quarterback. He knows the system. He makes plays. He knows when he can make a play and when he can’t and that’s the sign of a good quarterback.”

The ref: Jerome Boger will work today’s game. He last worked a Cowboys game in Week 10 of the 2011 season.
