Jason Hatcher confident of return vs. Giants

NEW ORLEANS -- Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Hatcher wanted to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, but he was not medically cleared to play.

Hatcher was unable to pass a pregame strength test because of a stinger that he had been able to play through before a direct hit in the win against the Minnesota Vikings sapped all of the strength from his arm.

“We did the right decision and if I did hit it again it probably would’ve been a month or two,” Hatcher said.

Hatcher said he anticipated playing Nov. 24 against the New York Giants with the Cowboys off this week with the bye.

“The strength was way better than it was,” Hatcher said. “Give me another week or 23 days if you think about it, this week, the bye week and then the following week, so I’ll be good.”

Without Hatcher, who leads the Cowboys with seven sacks, the Saints were able to rush for 242 yards on 38 carries. Mark Ingram was able to rush for 145 yards on 14 carries. It is the second time this season the Cowboys have allowed 200 or more rushing yards. They gave up 216 to the Washington Redskins.
