Training camp to visit San Antonio, Oxnard

It became official today when the Cowboys announced it will hold training camp in two different cities.

The Cowboys will have their first training camp practice on Saturday, July 24 through August 6 in San Antonio.

After that, the Cowboys will travel to Canton, Ohio for the Hall of Fame game and take on the Bengals.

Following that game, the Cowboys will return to Dallas and prepare for the August 12 game vs. Oakland at Cowboys Stadium.

The next day, the Cowboys will travel to Oxnard, Calif and have its first practice on the West Coast on Saturday, August 14.

After two preseason games at San Diego (August 21) and at Houston (August 28) the Cowboys will resume practices at Valley Ranch on August 31.

The Cowboys will break camp in Oxnard, on August 27.

"Spending two weeks in both San Antonio and Southern California gives us the opportunity to reach out to the very strong fan followings that the organization enjoys in two traditional training camp homes for the Cowboys," Jerry Jones said in a statement. "We have alwasy received tremendous receptions and hospitality from the fans and community leaders in both San Antonio and Oxnard."

The Cowboys have two years remaining on a five-year contract to train in San Antonio. In 2008, because of a scheduling conflict at the Alamodome, the Cowboys moved all of their camp to Oxnard. They also trained in Oxnard from 2004 to '06.

Of course most of the practices in both cities are open to the public. The Cowboys practice at the Alamodome while in San Antonio and at the fields behind the Marriott Residence Inn.
