Workout guys getting a look

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys had at least 18 players trying out for the team. In a sense, these players are attempting to make the 80-man training camp roster.

If that happens, they must survive two cuts to either make the 53-man roster or clear waivers and get signed to the practice squad.

The Cowboys have players from all over the country: Antoine Hicks from TCU, B.J. Stewart from Cumberland, Edawn Coughman from Shaw University and DiMetrio Tyson from Jacksonville State to name a few.

"You never know where you can find football players," coach Jason Garrett said.

Last year, the Cowboys found two players, Ben Bass and Jamize Olawale, from the tryout list who eventually made the practice squad. At one point, Bass was moved to the active roster and Olawale was claimed by the Oakland Raiders.

It's too early to determine if someone from the workout list will emerge to the 80-man roster, but don't be surprised to find someone get invited to training camp.
