Long wait affords Baylor special trip

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Baylor Bears came to the Sprint Center Tuesday night to get some shots up and they practiced at a local gym Wednesday morning. They're the last team to get in a game in at the Big 12 tournament, having to wait it out seven games over two days until 8:30 Thursday night.

In fact, Texas Tech and two other yet-to-be-decided teams will have played twice before the No. 3-seed Bears take the floor against the Texas-Iowa State winner (8:30 tonight).

So with time to spare, Scott Drew's Baylor Bears made the most of it. The team paid a visit to the young patients at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City Wednesday afternoon. Children's Mercy specializes in treating pediatric cancer.

Drew's uncle, Tom Demark, a retired school teacher, works at the hospital.
