Baylor coach Art Briles has agreed to a long-term deal with Baylor, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad.
Briles had earned interest from Arkansas and emerged as a strong candidate.
Briles has taken Baylor to new heights, a year removed from a 10-win season and a Heisman winner in Robert Griffin III. This year, he became the first coach to ever take BU to three consecutive bowl games. The Bears went 7-5 and 4-5 in the Big 12 this year, the first time BU had won seven games in three consecutive seasons since 1949-51.
After next season, the Bears plan to open up a brand-new, on-campus stadium on the banks of the Brazos River. Baylor seemed likely to do all it could to retain Briles and the coach seemed a long shot to leave.
His latest deal makes it seem even more like that's the case.
