Baylor had to scramble to fill its schedule after SMU backed out of a previously scheduled game, the Mustangs' fourth against a former Southwest Conference opponent.
It didn't take long for Baylor to fill the void left last week.
Baylor announced it will be suiting up in Waco, Texas, on Aug. 31, 2013, opening the season against Wofford, an FCS school in Spartansburg, S.C.
The Terriers went 9-4 last season before being eliminated by the two-time national champion North Dakota State Bison. Their only FBS opponent was South Carolina, who knocked off Wofford, 24-7.
I'm never a fan of teams signing up to play FCS teams, but the Bears were in a bind. We'll see if Baylor makes the move official and how much it'll be paying for the game, but Baylor's schedule now features two bye weeks sandwiched around a Sept. 21 home game against Louisiana-Monroe, just before the Bears begin conference play.
Baylor will now suit up against Buffalo, Louisiana-Monroe and Wofford, leaving its nonconference schedule without a BCS conference opponent for the fourth consecutive season.
