Texas pitcher Taylor Jungmann and two high school players who have signed with the Longhorns were selected Monday in the first round of the MLB draft.
Right-hander Dylan Bundy of Owasso (Okla.) High School was the first Texas recruit off the board when the Baltimore Orioles took him with the fourth overall pick.
Jungmann, a junior right-hander who is contributing to the Longhorns' postseason run, was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers at No. 12.
Texas signee Blake Swihart, a catcher from of Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, N.M., went to the Boston Red Sox with the 26th pick.
Notable in has absence from the draftee list is Texas signee Josh Bell. The Dallas Jesuit slugger was projected in the top half of the first round, but he sent letters to major league teams saying he would not sign a pro contract because he was intent on playing for the Longhorns.
Only one college player from the state of Texas besides Jungmann was picked Monday. Rice third baseman Anthony Rendon went to the Washington Nationals at No. 6.
