GREEN BAY, Wis. - Here's a look at the snap counts for each of the Cowboys' defensive players in Sunday’s 26-21 loss to Green Bay:
Brandon Carr 71
J.J. Wilcox 71
Bruce Carter 66
Nick Hayden 52
Barry Church 48
Jeff Heath 23
Tyler Patmon 21
Josh Brent 19
Linebacker McClain, one of the few playmakers on this defense, dropped Eddie Lacy for a 1-yard loss on the game’s first play. He suffered a concussion during the second series and did not return. He played only nine snaps, ending a four-game stretch in which McClain was inactive once and did not play more than 29 snaps.
Safety Church suffered a quad strain in the first quarter and was in and out of the game the rest of the day. He played only 48 snaps, which meant Jeff Heath was in the game for 23 snaps. Heath made a key pass deflection on Green Bay’s two-point attempt in the fourth quarter.
Defensive tackle Hayden tied his season-high from Week 3 with 52 snaps. He finished with just one tackle.
It’s somewhat surprising on a day the Cowboys needed a pass rush in the worst way that rookie Lawrence played only 23 snaps. He did get a sack, but the Cowboys could’ve used more pressure on Aaron Rodgers, who threw 35 passes.
With McClain out and rookie Hitchens limited by a high-ankle sprain, Bruce Carter played 66 snaps, his second-highest total of the season. Carter finished with a team-high nine tackles. Hitchens played 46 snaps and recorded six tackles. The ankle kept Hitchens from practicing the last two weeks.
