The Rangers announced today that Roger Staubach will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the club’s 2010 season opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, April 5.
Staubach, the former Cowboys quarterback and current chairman of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, will toss the pitch just before the official first pitch is thrown around 1:05 p.m. at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
“We feel that Roger Staubach is a very appropriate choice for this year’s first pitch,” said Rangers President Nolan Ryan in a release. “This gives us the opportunity to salute his efforts in bringing Super Bowl XLV to Arlington.”
That Super Bowl will be played on Feb. 6, 2011 at Cowboys Stadium and will be the first Super Bowl ever player in North Texas.
