Cowboys talk Jared Gaither, but that's it

Sports Illustrated's Peter King speculated the Baltimore Ravens should trade restricted free agent left tackle Jared Gaither to the Cowboys.

Gaither, in 11 games, participated in 703 snaps, 28 players played at least 1,000 snaps last season at tackle, including the since release Flozell Adams for the Cowboys.

Gaither allowed four sacks, three quarterback hits and six quarterback pressures last season.

Is Gaither the man to replace Adams?

At the start of free agency the Cowboys did talk about what kind of fit Gaither could make. It was nothing serious because the Cowboys talk all the time about players.

Here's the deal: The Cowboys just talked about Gaither internally, but didn't push anything in terms of asking to meet the man at Valley Ranch.

Doug Free is scheduled to become the starter at left tackle this season, unless the Cowboys change things up and draft a quality tackle or move someone else (Leonard Davis) to the left side.

For now, Gaither to the Cowboys won't happen.
