Taking a look at free agent tackle market

The Cowboys addressed their need for depth on the interior line by bringing back Montrae Holland.

They'll have to look outside the organization for depth at offensive tackle. Jerry Jones has repeatedly stressed that he's confident that Doug Free will be fine at left tackle.

But the Cowboys would be in trouble at left tackle if Free goes down. Jones made it clear during draft weekend that he plans to find a backup in free agency.

There is a remote possibility that Flozell Adams will re-sign with the Cowboys as a backup. But don't count on that. He's likely to land with a team that needs a starter at tackle, such as the Chicago Bears.

It's a better possibility that the tackle the Cowboys sign isn't currently on the open market. Jones indicated that he'd be willing to wait to see what options are added to the free agent tackle pool as teams release veterans in the coming weeks.

What options are already out there? Garland native Mike Gandy, Levi Jones, Ephraim Salaam, John Tait, Tra Thomas and Damion McIntosh are unrestricted free agents with starting experience who might be willing to be cost-effective backups.
